At TIP, the team you meet with is the team that you’ll work with, from inception to completion. There is no hand-off to the junior squad. Our core group is lean and nimble, backed by a stable of creative partners and fabricators who help us deliver results on time, and on budget every time.

  • Working at a small letterpress shop.

  • What inspires you?
  • Seeing my daughter on stage performing.
  • What is your favourite part of the job?
  • Working with the printer, checking the job as it's rolling off the end of the press... making those on the spot tweaks to perfect the final results. I also love being on-site installing graphics and working with the team to solve the inevitable unforeseen obstacles that always pop up.
  • What is your dream project?
  • To finally finish the illustrated Kid's Alphabet Book I started 25 years ago.

Alina Wheeler
  • Where did you grow up?
  • I grew up in a few different places in the Lower Mainland of BC. Various areas in Surrey, Burnaby, and Vancouver and for a year and a half, I was also in Montreal, Quebec but ultimately, we moved back to BC.
  • Favourite childhood toy?
  • Comfort stuffed bear, Nintendo 64, and Nintendo DS Lite.
  • 3 things you cannot live without?
  • Family, food, and music/films. Technically four.
  • What is something you despise?
  • Pickles.
  • What do you collect?
  • Pressed flowers, Marvel Comics, and Funko POP! Figures.
  • 3 life changing bands/musicians?
  • Black Panther Soundtrack. BTS, J.Cole
  • What is your secret talent?
  • Being a self-taught nail technician; acrylic, gel, polygel, soft gel extensions, all the above.
  • If you were not working in design, what would you be doing?
  • Special FX movie makeup.
  • What would your last meal on earth be?
  • There are too many choices to choose from. Most likely something soupy and either Vietnamese, Japanese, or Korean.
  • What inspires you?
  • The ability to learn new things and progress as well as helping others.
  • What is your favourite part of the job?
  • Working on various projects in many disciplinaries and finding creative solutions for everyday needs.

  • A multi-disciplinary project that involves a social cause to raise awareness or directly being part of the movement.

  • Dana Tanamachi. Her book illustrations are absolutely stunning, and I love the way she captures the heart of the book in a beautiful mixture of typography and imagery.

  • I love the variety of projects, as well as the challenge of finding the best way to solve a problem visually.
  • What is your dream project?
  • I’ve always wanted to write a book, so I suppose designing it as well would be fun!

  • Inconsiderateness, wastefulness.
  • What do you collect?
  • Original pressing vintage funk/soul, jazz, bossa nova records.
  • 3 life changing bands/musicians?
  • Too many, but my favourite DJs are: Madlib, Muro, Moodymann.
  • What is your secret talent?
  • I can eat absurd amounts of food and still be hungry.
  • If you were not working in design, what would you be doing?
  • 3D Animator.

  • Jamaican oxtail, rice & peas, doubles, Ting.

  • Being multi-disciplinary. Gives greater appreciation of the whole creative process.
